Palestinian teacher wins 2016 Global Teacher Prize

TVC  NEWS – Hanan Hihoub, a Palestinian primary school teacher who grew up in a refugee camp has won a $1 million prize for teaching excellence on Sunday, beating out 8,000 other applicants from around the world.

Hanan al-Hroub, who teaches in the West Bank city of al-Bireh just outside Ramallah, was awarded the second annual Global Teacher Prize during a ceremony in the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Bukola Samuel-Wemimo reports from Dubai that the Global Teacher prize closing usually draws the curtain on the Global education skills forum and this year’s grand closing of the conference began with the use of the arts to highlight the importance of knowledge.

Hollywood and Bollywood were on hand to lend their support for Teachers across the Globe.

There were good will messages from leaders of thought from around the world, on the contributions of the top ten finalists for the prize.

Last year, President Bill Clinton was chosen to announce the winner of the prize. The task was for catholic portion, Pope Finalists, to the surprise of many.
