Judge withdraws from suit to halt Saraki’s trial

TVC E, NEWS – Justice Abdukadir Abdu-Kafarati of the Federal High Court in Abuja has withdrawn from the case filed by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, seeking an order to stop his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

This follows reports on online media accusing the judge of having been compromised by Saraki.

This has also stalled the judgment to be delivered in the case on Tuesday.

Justice Abdu-Kafarati said his integrity had been maligned by the reports and it would be honourable for him to disqualify himself from the case.

The judgment was to come on the heels of an earlier verdict of the Supreme Court, which had validated the Senate President’s trial before the CCT.
