Bishop Okonkwo of TREM urges Nigerians to ceaselessly pray for Buhari

Praying ceaselessly for President Mohammadu Buhari and those in government at this moment is what is required of every Nigerian in this trying times, not unnecessary criticisms and faults finding.

A Clergyman and General Overseer of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission TREM, Bishop Mike Okonkwo gave this charge on Thursday during an exclusive interview with TVC News in Asaba.

Bishop Mike Okonkwo, a Lagos based preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ was in Asaba for pastors conference under the auspices of Communion of Covenant Ministers International CCMI.

It was a one day event that attracted pastors from within and outside the country to brainstorm on how to further advance the gospel works for benefit of mankind.

But Bishop Okonkwo who appeared more bothered by the current state of the Nigerian nation will rather not prefer to dwell only on what brought him to Asaba.

He took a swipe at those currently criticising President Buhari for the current state of insecurity in the nation and his slow speed in turning the economy around for the better.

Bishop Okonkwo likened President Buhari’s predicament to that of a man who inherited a plot of land filled with debris of collapsed building.

And he insisted that if the man is not fortunate to get the required finances, it will definitely take him longer time to clear the debris and start a new structure.

He appealed to Nigerians irrespective of tribes, religious or political affiliations to be patient with the current administration.

He also admonished the citizens to pray daily for those in authority, stressing that with God’s intervention, the nation will overcome its numerous challenges.

Other pastors interviewed at the venue also shared the same sentiments. But one of them was quick to warn President Buhari against allowing the governor of Kaduna State to forge ahead with the bill to regulate religious preachings.

Pastor Okafor advised President Buhari to reciprocate Christians’ prayers and support for his administration so far by creating a conducive atmosphere for them to practice everywhere in Nigeria.
