TVC E. The Central Bank of Nigeria has appointed a new board for Skye bank. The apex bank took over the commercial bank on Monday in what it called liquidity inadequacy.
Alhaji M.K. Ahmed and Tokunbo Abero will serve as a chairman and managing director respectively.
At a press briefing in Lagos, the Governor of central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefiele assure depositors that the bank is not in distress and that their money remains safe.
Given reason for the apex bank’s decision Emefiele said the liquidity ratio in this bank has been weakening.
He added that the CBN intervention is to ensure that it does not get into a position that it cannot be rescued while depositors will risk losing their monies.
