TVC E. Embattled governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu, believes his mandate is divine from God and as such, he remains certain that nobody can remove him from the seat.
Ikpeazu was ousted by a high court in Abuja over tax falsification and Sampson Uche Ogah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared the governor-elect.
The court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue certificate of return to Ogah. But Ikpeazu has appealed the ruling of the court thus stalling the supposed swearing-in of Ogah as pronounced by the court.
While receiving a team from Nzuko Ohanaeze Ukwa/Ngwa on a solidarity visit, Ikpeazu urged the people of the state not to be troubled because God is fighting his battle.
He appealed to the residents to avoid violence because this could lead to tension and casualties emphasizing his belief that God would favour him.
He agreed that Uche Ogah is wealthier than him adding that if the seat was to be won with money, the latter would gave long taken over the position.
The Nation reports that the governor stressed that the position was not for sale.
“It is not a battle against me; it is a battle against the office of the governor which I occupy by the grace of God. “The coup d’état, which some desperate people from within and outside the state planned against the state and which failed to materialise five days ago, has become public knowledge.
“So, it will never succeed,” he said.
