CAN organizes prayer session for Nigerian leaders

TVC E. A prayer session has been organised by CAN for the spiritual and economical growth of the Nigerian economy. The prayer

session tagged: ‘Nigeria Prays’ had Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and other government officials in attendance.

Top Nigerian men of God have taken up the battle against bad leadership in the country as they met to pray that God should remove such leaders from their various positions.

Some of the top Christian clerics at the programme, according to the report, include the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye (represented by the pastor in charge of region 10 of the church, Pastor Emmanuel Ibitayo). Others are the general overseer of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, the general overseer of Deeper Life Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, the Primate, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, the vice president of CAN, Professor Joseph Otubu, Bishop Wale Oke of the Christ Life Church, the general overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, Dr DK Olukoya, and others. The programme also had presentations by the various choirs with prayers for President Muhammadu Buhari and his cabinet, the National Assembly and the judiciary, the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory and others. The state of the economy, naira, youth and families, education system and other sectors of the economy, were also included in the prayers that followed verses from the Bible.

The report said: “During the prayer section on leadership, the entire congregation rose and shouted on top of their voices in one accord for God to remove every leader at any level of government that is anti-people. “The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche, who led the prayer section on Governors, declared that any governor without the fear of God, that is not performing would not complete his tenure.” The Prelate who was represented by the Archbishop of Abuja, Oche Job, said; “Any governor without the fear of god will not complete his tenure. “Those who do well will come back for second term.” This prayer point elicited a very loud ‘amen’ from the congregation. Pastor Paul Adefarasin, who led the prayer concerning the economy, described Nigeria as being in prison and must be freed like Paul and Silas in the Bible. “Nigeria economy seems to be in prison. Like in the case of Paul and Sila in the bible, they were being held in the prison, but the doors of prison were opened on its own accord.

“After tonight, we expect the glory of God in Nigeria,” he said. Omobude prayed that for wisdom, knowledge and understanding from God for those handling the economy. He prayed: “Those who have made it their stock in trade to run against economic policy of this nation be run out of business.”
