TVC E. The House of Representatives on Wednesday went into a rowdy session over moves to suspend Abdulmumin Jubrin. The rowdy session followed a motion on matter of privilege raised by Emmanuel Oker-Jev, PDP, Benue. He referred members to the damaging effect of bugdet padding allegations leveled against the Speaker and three other principal officers. Oker-Jev said the allegations are capable of destroying the reputation of the National Assembly as an institution. He therefore wants the Committee on Ethics and Privileges to investigate the matter and report back in one week. While the pro-Dogara members hailed the motion, Jibrin walked out while members of the Transparency Group rose against the motion. And rowdiness ensued. Attempts by Aliyu Madaki to see that the motion didn't sail through failed and for more than ten minutes, he couldn't make further submission as he was intermittently shouted down. Then the Dogara loyalists began the distribution of moflas as a mark of support for the Speaker. The Ethics and Privileges Committee will within the next one week dig into the allegations raised by Jibrin as well as his conduct while the budget padding drama lasted throughout the recess
