21 Chibok girls released after negotiations with Boko Haram

Twenty-one of the more than 200 girls kidnapped over two years ago in a raid on their school in Chibok town by Boko Haram militants have been released.

The Department of State Services, DSS confirmed the development on Thursday morning.

“The release of the girls, in a limited number is the outcome of negotiations between the administration and  the Boko Haram brokered by the International Red Cross and the Swiss government,” presidential spokesman Garba Shehu said in a statement.

“The negotiations will continue,.” he added.
