Onayiga tasks Nigerian Journalists on Objective Reportage

Image result for Nigerian JournalistsJournalists have been urged to stop injecting their opinions in news stories meant to be factual and informative in order to build a better Nigeria.

A foremost broadcast journalist and political editor, Gbenga Onayiga gave the advise at a reception in his honour for retiring from the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria after serving for thirty seven years.

TVC News Sumner Sambo reports that at a colourful reception hosted by presidential aide, Senator Ita Enang on behalf of newsmakers, broadcast professionals and the journalism profession, most dignitaries at the event commended the celebrator, Gbenga
Onayiga for a glorious career that impacted on many lives.

Onayiga later counselled journalists to invest more in training themselves.

He also wants them to stop injecting opinions into news stories.

Those that worked with him are full of praises for Onayiga for also sacrificing his time as a union executive at the Nigerian Union of
Journalists, NUJ.

Other speakers counselled those in public broadcasting not to be scared of retirement as it is a development that brings out the best in creative people such as the celebrator.

Before his retirement, Onayiga was a former parliamentary Correspondent, Bureau Chief and Assistant Director at Radio Nigeria. He recently got appointed to the board of the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI.
