Falconets hit Papua New Guinea

The  Falconets on  Wednesday arrived  in Papua New Guinea  ahead of the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in the Oceania country.

The  team, who left Nigeria on Sunday,  arrived for the  tournament behind Germany, Brazil, Spain, Sweden and Korea Republic,  who arrived  on Tuesday.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation,  fans  turned out in large numbers at the airport singing, dancing and waving a giant Nigerian flag to welcome the 2014 silver medallists.

Meanwhile, the media in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, celebrated the arrival of Nigeria to their country by publishing photographs of two Nigeria players  in their papers.

The country’s highest circulating newspaper, Papua New Guinea Post Courier, gave Belarus – based Aminat Yakubu the pride of place on their back page with a big action picture of hers in Nigerian jersey.
