Professional bodies want more technocrats in governance

Nigerian professionals have called for a new leadership recruitment system that ensures that technocrats are brought into governance, to stabilize the country through critical economic and development strategies.

This was the outcome of a get-together of professional bodies in the country.

TVC News Sumner Sambo reports. Speakers at this gathering of professionals say Nigeria is in leadership recession and not economic recession.

They say only good leadership through placement of qualified professionals in appropriate institutions of government and a sound leadership recruitment system can solve the country’s immense challenges.

Those in government agree.

At this investiture ceremony for the fifteenth president of the Association of Professional Bodies in Nigeria, the technocrats are unanimous in their belief that the economy can only be revived through a strategic approach.

The new president of APBN in his speech also calls for an urgent reconstitution of all dissolved boards and councils by President Muhammadu Buhari as the vacuum is affecting decision-making in federal agencies.
