Nike set to extend kit deal with Nigeria

Nigeria’s good start to the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers has apparently started yielding dividends as sportswear giants Nike are looking to extend the kit deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Nike replaced another sportswear firm Adidas as the official supplier of uniforms of the Nigerian national football teams after the latter opted out of the arrangement in 2015.

The deal with Nike was to start from June 2015 and into 2018 but did not extend into the World Cup proper in June 2018.

Apparently, Nike has taken stock of Nigeria’s recent leap in the FIFA ranking and 100 per cent start to the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers which have convinced the sportswear company to extend the kit deal to cover the World Cup period and beyond.

The American sportswear firm kits major clubs like Barcelona, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and recently signed a mega-rich deal with English side Chelsea.

They also kit Brazil, European champions Portugal, England, the United States, Australia and South Korea to mention a few.
