President Buhari has arrived Gambia, where he is to join other African leaders like the President of Sierra Leone Ernest Bai Koroma, President of Liberia Ellen Sirleaf Johnson, President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama and UN Rep Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambass, to hold a meeting with the Gambian President, Yayha Jammeh.
The African leaders are to persuade the Gambian President to vacate office after he lost the December 1st Presidential election. They will insist on the sanctity of the electoral process, and respect for the wishes of the people. They will also ask him to respect the Constitution of his own country. The leaders are also scheduled to meet the President-elect, Adama Barrow. President Buhari is expected back in Abuja later today.
