16-yr-old boy dies after drinking ‘illicit gin’ in Lagos

A 16-year-old boy identified simply as Ngozi, has been sent to his early grave, no thanks to some suspected adulterated liquor.

Ngozi allegedly drank the suspected adulterated liquor in the Oko Afo, Badagry area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the deceased who lived with his parents on Temidola Street, Oko Afo, died about an hour after drinking the local gin given to him by the seller.

Accrding to reports, one Olufunke had sent her son, Olawumi and his friend, Ngozi, to buy the gin from the woman whose name had yet to be ascertained.

After selling the drink to the boys, the seller gave Ngozi an extra gin in a nylon which he drank while returning from the errand.

He was said to have become drunk and was taken home by Olufunke, who also resides on the street.

Shortly after the teenager was led home, he was said to have gone into convulsion and was rushed to a hospital in the community where he was pronounced dead.

The case was reported at the Morogbo Police Division, leading to the arrest of the gin seller. A resident of the area.
