Supreme Court dismisses Nyako’s plea for reinstatement

Murtala Nyako, former Adamawa Governor

The wish of the former governor of Adamawa State Murtala Nyako to complete his truncated second term in office has experienced a set back.

This is because the Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal seeking an order reinstating him in office.

The seven-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Tanko Muhammad held in its judgment that it agreed with the earlier decision of the Court of Appeal that declared Nyako’s removal from office as illegal.

But it is unable to reinstate him because of the “special facts” of the case while it was before the lower court.

The court says the appeal had to fail because Nyako’s lawyer had compromised the case at the Appeal court by withdrawing the prayer seeking the former governor’s reinstatement.
