Bello releases N2bn salaries owed ex-office holders

TVC E. Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has released N2 billion for payment to immediate past political office holders in all the local government areas of the state.

The fund is part payment of their salaries and other benefits owed them by former governor, Idris Wada.

Bello made the announcement when the Chairman, National Councillors Forum, Kogi Chapter, Musa Adakeke; Secretary, Muhammed Omale, and members visited him.

Bello assured that his administration would leave its doors open to persons ready to work for the development of the state irrespective of political affiliation.

He said: “The money is to pay former Chairmen and Secretary of local government councils part of their salaries and severance package owed by the immediate past administration of Idris Wada.”

The governor, however, donated an 18-sitter bus to the forum and promised to appoint its members to key positions.

In his remark, Adekeke thanked the governor for releasing the money.

He urged Bello to focus on infrastructural projects, saying such will lead to economic growth and job creation for the youths.
