Army gives cash reward to disabled man beaten by soldiers

The Nigerian army has offered a cash reward to a crippled man, Chijioke Uraku, who was beaten by two soldiers for wearing army camouflage.

Recall that a video posted on Instagram had shown the pair as they violently beat and dragged the victim on a dusty ground right in the middle of the Onitsha market, an act that sparked outrage on social media, with many condemning the soldiers’ action.

A picture posted on Twitter by a user showed Uraku strike a pose with some top Army officials in a seemingly truce mood.
Though commended by some people, other observers feel the gesture was just a show for the public.
