UCL : City beat Monaco 5-3 in Etihad thriller

Action resumed in the UEFA champions league round of 16 with two matches in England and Germany.
At the Etihad, Manchester City hosted Monaco in what turned out to be a harvest of goals.

City displayed character and tenacity in turning the table against a very technical Monaco side who led the first half 2-1.

The home team crawled back into the game courtesy a brace by Sergio Aguero. But goals by John Stones and Leroy Sane ensured City won the highly entertaining fixture 5-3.

In Germany, Bayer Leverkusen suffered their first defeat in the Champions league this season when they slumped to a 2-4 home defeat to Atletico madrid.

Atletico went two goals up inside the first 25 minutes but Leverkusen levelled up.

Kevin Gameiro and Fernando Torress both found the back of the net to restore Atletico’s lead and ensure a 4-2 victory.

Both matches provided a sensational night of champions league football with a whooping 14 goals in just two centres.
