Disney announces ‘Lion King’ live action film

Following the success of The Jungle Book in 2016, Disney is remaking another classic.

The studio has announced that A Live-Action Lion King movie is in the works.

Jon Favreau will fast-track a live-action repeat of The Lion King, which will include songs from the original animated movie.

James Earl Jones will repeat his role as Mufasa while Donald Glover will play Simba.

The Lion King, released in 1994, banked an overwhelming $968 million dollars during its box office run making it one of the highest-grossing animated movies of all time.

It won an Oscar for Elton John and Tim Rice. It moved on to become a very successful Broadway show winning awards across the world.
