Rice sellers: Customs urge protesters to claim of legal importation

The Nigerian Customs Service says the Sango-Ota protesting rice sellers can reclaim their rice if they come forward with documents to show that the rice were imported through the seaports.

Pubic Relations Officer of the Federal Operations Unit Zone A, Jerry Attah stated this in view of claims by the protesting rice sellers that operatives of customs invaded their market.

According to Attah, the customs impounded the rice after due observation indicated that the rice were being smuggled into the country through unapproved routes.
