TVC E. The super-fight announced by Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan last week is off, according to the Filipino’s promoter Bob Arum.
The Top Rank chief told ESPN he had doubts over the deal for the two to fight in the United Arab Emirates from the start but the fighter and his adviser Michael Koncz pursued it anyway.
Arum has revealed that Koncz is on his way to the Philippines to tell Pacquiao that his next opponent will not be former WBA light-welterweight champion Khan.
‘I’m talking to him about another proposal for another fight, not Khan. Khan won’t be Manny’s next opponent.’
Arum had been trying to set up a deal for Pacquiao to meet Australia’s Jeff Horn in April but now will be working on a fight for June or July with the dates working around the fighter’s duties as a senator.
The 85-year-old promoter says there is a possibility of re-establishing a Khan bout in November but remains doubtful it will happen.
‘UAE would not happen until November, if it happens at all, but I doubt it will,’ Arum added.
