Briefing new men at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, the Defence Spokesman, justified the recent visit by United Nations team to assess the extent to which the terror group planted mines in the northeast, particularly in the Sambisa.

Major General John Enenche explained that without the assistance of multilateral organisations, it would take a very long time for the country to demine the affected areas.

The military authorities believe that fleeing Boko Haram insurgents planted mines indiscriminately to prevent troop access to the territories they once occupied.
