Watch: Schools battle for Milo secondary school basketball championship

The grand finale of Nestle Milo Secondary School Basketball Championship will took Lagos. Male and female teams, representing the country’s six geopolitical zones, took part in the final round of this year’s Nestle Milo Secondary School Basketball Championship.

St Jude Girls Secondary Amarata Bayelsa state and Yejide Girls Grammar school Ibadan Oyo State set the ball rolling at the grand finale of the 2017 Nestle Milo National Secondary School Basketball Championship in Lagos.

After an exhilarating start to the girls’s game in the first quarter, St Jude made a white wash of Yejide Girls 41-14 to emerge champions. Bayelsa player Grace John emerged as the Girls’ Most Valuable Player.

In the boys category, it was a contest between Government Secondary school Minna Niger state and Government Secondary School Karu Abuja. The Niger boys set the tone of the game with a first quarter lead.

And with the Niger State team leading at half time, the near capacity crowd of pupils went into delirious excitement when rapper Phyno took to the court. The Abuja boys returned in the second half to put in a fight which saw an end to end game.

They took the lead 56-51 half way through the fourth quarter. But Niger state took the game to the wire late on and fought back to win the match 65-60 to emerge champions. TVC News correspondent, Solomon Ajuziogu, said, Aminu Usman of Government Secondary School Minna won the boys Most Valuable Player award.

Government Secondary School Gboko Benue State won the girls third place, while St Augustine Seminary Ezzangbo ebonyi State took the third place for boys.
