How my father’s mistake changed my career – Kalu Ikeagwu

Nollywood Star, Kalu Ikeagwu on Friday said, the mistake his father made on him while growing up. ”The mistake my dad made was to introduce me to literature at the age of 4. I was suppose to be a medical doctor but I started reading novels and it stocked, I stumble upon live stage actor which was life changing for me.” He said.

”Now I am a proud actor, I enjoy what I am doing at the moment all because my father introduced me to acting through the literature novel he gave me to read. Beside, while growing up I have done all kinds of job and I had been crab on them, but acting still stands out.”

Did you know that the actor, who has received several awards and nominations for his performances on screen, was arrested on last year at his residence by Policemen over an armed robbery incident that happened in Abuja,

According to the news, the police stormed the actor’s home at Gbagba crescent flat, off college road, Lagos at around 3:40 and whisked him away over a robbery and homicide case.

While narrating what led to his arrest, one of his neighbours said that he was nabbed in the afternoon after he dropped his step-daughter at home from school.

“He had parked his car at the gate, dropped the girl with her mother as if he was on his way out again.

“He was said to have received a call from one of the operatives who had been waiting for him. And as soon as he stepped out of the gate, he was asked if indeed he was Kalu Ikeagwu, and he confirmed his identity.

“He was politely invited, but was about arguing with them when they brought out their guns. neighbours who had tried to step in, stood back as soon as they saw the guns.

“He was then carried away in a bus.”

The newly-wed actor was later released from the police station at around 8:00pm.

He explained to his worried neighbours that he was taken for questioning over a stolen phone he bought that’s related to an ongoing investigation of a robbery case.

He said: “My personal assistant bought a stolen phone from Computer Village in Ikeja, and the thieves reportedly killed one of the victims of the robbery.

“The crime happened in Abuja, and the phone was traced to Lagos by the security agents since my address and name were used during the purchase.
