June 12: MKO Abiola’s son says justice has finally been served

President Muhammadu Buhari directed that henceforth, the nations Democracy day would be holding on the 12th of June every year as against the may 29 invoked by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the time.

In addition, The President also resolved to honoring the Late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola popularly known as “MKO ABIOLA” with the highest national honour as “The Grand Commander Of The Federal Repubic of Nigeria”.
Discussing this on Your View last week, Jumoke applauded The President for doing this and that the Yorubas’ are indeed grateful and happy about it but she sees it as a political stunt for the upcoming elections.

However it was a rematch on Your View as the ladies discussed the feedback on Buhari’s declaration. There have been feedback on the Democracy day(June 12) that is arguably distracting but it is agreed that justice has been served for the people.
Following the declaration, it is important to note that June 12 as Democracy Day means more than a ‘Yoruba thing ‘, it means unity and justice for that people of Nigeria.
Speaking on the show, Late Chief MKO. Abiola’s sons, Abdulmumini Abiola shared his views, saying
“Justice does mater….. I do understand that it could be a distraction because this is 25 years in the past, and we have moved but what I would say is, it has been addressed. What we should is to take some lessons from it.”
