XXX Tentacion's album sales skyrockets more than 700,000% following his death

XXXTentacion the 20-year-old controversial rapper who was shot and killed outside a South Florida motorcycle dealership on Monday afternoon. According to reports, sales and stream of the rapper’s music has skyrocketed on Amazon and Apple Music.

As is always the case when a popular musician dies, sales and streams of XXXTentacion’s discography have subsequently skyrocketed across all major platforms, with some formats seeing more than a 700,000% sales increase.

In the hours since he was gunned down, on Monday (June 18), XXX’s full-length projects, ? and 17, have earned placements at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots respectively on Amazon’s Movers and Shakers Digital Music list.

The Florida rapper’s most recent effort ? saw a 41,306 percent spike in digital sales, whereas his debut project 17 is nearly up by 9,000 percent in digital sales, according to TMZ.

The accompanying CDs and vinyls for the “Look At Me” rapper’s second studio album have also moved units. Currently, the ? vinyl has jumped a staggering 542,566 percent in sales, whereas, the CD version of the 18-track project has seen a 54,057 percent spike in sales since it’s initial March release date.

According to report, XXX’s music catalog is also dominating iTunes with his single “SAD!” currently resting at the No. 1 spot. “Changes,” off the ? LP has also sits at No. 5. The album itself has also skyrocketed to No. 3 overall on the iTunes charts, and 17 has reached No. 5.

XXX Tentacion music made great success on charts as a result of the huge streaming numbers and he’s returned to several of Spotify’s top charts as well. “SAD!” has leapt to No. 2 on the United States Top 50 chart (right behind Juice WRLD’s “Lucid Dreams”), earning more than 1.434 million daily plays. It also skyrocketed to No. 10 on the Global Top 50 with more than 2.802 million daily plays, proving XXX had cultivated a huge worldwide fanbase, and those fans were devastated to learn of his passing.

Prior to XXX’s death, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were expected to bag the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 this week with their new album, Everything Is Love, which they released as The Carters. However, XXXTentacion’s posthumous streaming and sales boost would most likely change this week’s chart results. Even if the rapper doesn’t steal the top spot, he’ll likely make a big dent on the Billboard 200 this week.
