UPDATE: The Nigerian police say Senator Dino Melaye is fit for trial. The authorities say the embattled Senator is pretending to be ill.
Police spokesman Jimoh Moshood said all tests conducted on the senator proved negative, an indication that his health may not be challenged.
A lawyer for the police says Mr Dino is feigning sickness in order to avoid trial .
Senator Dino is at the police hospital in Garki where the police are attempting to evacuate him to Kogi state to face charges of conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide.
They say the crime for which he is being accused was committed in July 2018.
