South African father, second wife and hitman sentenced to life imprisonment for killing 17 years old son.
A father, his second wife and a hit man have been sentenced to life imprisonment by a High Court in Bloemfontein, South Africa, for arranging the murder of his 17-year-old son because he did not want to pay child support anymore.
The father, Kelebogile Molatole, 50, his wife Tebogo Molatole, 47, and the hit man, Khoeliea-Marena Sefuthi, were sentenced to life imprisonment each for the murder of Tebogo Molatole’s son, Kearabetswe.
Free State Police spokesperson Col. Thandi Mbambo said:
“On the 5 April 2017, the 17-year-old Kearabetswe was from a soccer practice with his cousin, when left him and went to the shops to buy soft drink. On his return he found Kearabetswe lying in a pool of blood in the backroom of his father`s house in Gladstone, Thaba`Nchu, ” Thambo said in a statement.
“Thaba Nchu Police were summoned to the scene and it was discovered that the boy had been shot in the head and chest. The Provincial Organised Crime Task team were tasked to investigate the matter and it was not long when the pieces of the puzzle were put together and three, i.e the deceased father, step mother and the hit-man were arrested. Thorough Investigation revealed that the motive for the murder was that the father did not want to continue paying maintenance after he retired as a teacher. All three were found guilty of his murder and were sentenced to serve life in prison.”
Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Moeketsi Sempe said:
“The specialized team of detectives was put together in the Selosesha Cluster and they worked tirelessly sourcing information and ultimately made the breakthrough.”
