American actor Chadwick Boseman, popular for his role as Black Panther in the 2018 Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero movie of the same name, has died at the age of 43.
According to reports, the actor died as a result of colon cancer which he had been battling for over four years.
Announcing the news of his death, his family issued a statement using his Twitter account. The tweet read, “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2016 and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage four.
A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.
He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. The family thanks you for your love and prayers and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
In a recent development, this tweet announcing the actor’s passing, has become the most liked post in Twitter history. Twitter made the announcement writing, “Most liked tweet ever. A tribute fit for a king. #WakandaForever”
As at the time of filling this report that tweet has more than seven point three million likes, and three point one million retweets surpassing former United States president Barack Obama‘s 2017 tweet where he quoted Nelson Mandela, which has over four point three million likes and one point six million retweets.
