Nollywood actress and producer Genevieve Nnaji has been selected to be amongst the eight hundred and nineteen film influencers from across the globe to join The Academy.
According to a statement released by the body, “The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to eight hundred and nineteen artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures.
The 2020 class is 45% women, 36% underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 49% international from 68 countries. There are 75 Oscar nominees, including 15 winners, and five recipients of Scientific and Technical Awards.
Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy’s membership in 2020”
Genevieve Nnaji is not the only Nigerian selected, as film director Akin Omotoso also got invited.
She is an American actress, and singer-songwriter. As an actress, she was exposed to fame early but her breakthrough came in the film The Parent Trap, which led to other big roles in film such as Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, amongst others.
