Naira Marley and Sam Larry Granted Bail

Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, have been granted bail by a Magistrate court in Yaba. This ruling was made on November 6, allowing them to secure their release on bail with a sum of N20 million and the provision of three responsible sureties.

In compliance with their bail conditions, they are required to surrender their international passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Additionally, they must provide three sureties who can match the bail amount.

The presiding magistrate issued a stern warning, stating that any attempts to directly contact her would be documented and potentially disclosed during open court proceedings.

It’s important to note that Naira Marley and Sam Larry were previously accused of physically assaulting the late singer Mohbad, and they had been remanded by the police upon their return to Nigeria. On October 4, 2023, they were remanded in custody by a Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos State, on allegations related to bullying the former Marlian Music signee, Mohbad.

In response to their continuous detention, Naira Marley and Sam Larry recently initiated legal action against the Magistrate and the Police. They filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Lagos, naming the police and the magistrate as defendants and seeking N20 million each in damages.
