Beyoncé Drops Two New Country Tracks and Unveils Release Date for ‘Renaissance: Act II’

Beyoncé has officially confirmed fans’ long-standing speculation about the sequel to her acclaimed 2022 release, Renaissance: act i, revealing that it will indeed be a Country album. The announcement came with the surprise release of two new singles.

The unveiling of Renaissance: act ii began with a multi-layered reveal starting with a Super Bowl ad for Verizon, where Beyoncé and the iconic “Can You Hear Me Now” tech collaborated on various schemes to potentially “break the internet” once again. The ad concluded with Beyoncé launching into space, hinting at her plans for the first live performance from space and teasing, “Okay, they ready, drop the new music.”

Following the ad’s premiere, Beyoncé further teased her latest project with a Texas-themed trailer, confirming its release date for March 29. Within thirty minutes of sharing the trailer, she took to Instagram to announce the release of two new singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” continuing the silver-themed artwork from the first Renaissance album.

This surprise drop came amidst growing speculation among fans about Beyoncé’s potential venture into Country music, fueled by clues such as her country-inspired look at the 2024 Grammy Awards and lyrics from her 2019 single “Black Parade.”

While fans eagerly anticipate the release of Renaissance: act ii, one thing confirmed in the past is that the original Renaissance album was intended to kick off a trilogy. Although rumors suggest Act II will be an “acoustic album,” and Act III a collaboration with JAY-Z, Beyoncé’s camp has neither confirmed nor denied these speculations.
