Veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is battling stage four cancer, according to his daughter, who has appealed for urgent help to find treatment for him.
In a late-night social media post on Monday, Taiwo said the family was looking for medical professionals or anyone with the expertise to help treat her father, whom she said remains determined to survive despite the severity of his condition.
She stressed that the family was not seeking financial assistance but needed someone who could provide treatment.
“He has cancer and it’s really bad and the hospitals are refusing to treat him. At least, give this man a chance,” she said.
Ogogo’s daughter appeals for treatment

According to Taiwo, the family has struggled to find a hospital willing to treat the actor, prompting her public appeal for help.
She said her father has maintained a strong desire to live despite his condition.
“He has a strong will to live. If you see him, you can’t know that something that bad is wrong with him,” she said.
Taiwo also appealed to people with knowledge of possible treatment options, saying the family was open to both medical and herbal approaches.
“If you can treat my dad, whether by medical or herbal means, please help. I don’t want my daddy to die.”
Her comments about herbal treatment were presented as an appeal from the family; there is no independent evidence in the family’s public statement establishing any herbal treatment as effective for cancer.

Taiwo further disclosed that her father has an Indian visa but has been declared unfit to fly, making overseas treatment difficult.
“His Indian visa came out but he’s not fit to fly,” she said, before appealing to anyone who could help the family access treatment locally.
She also acknowledged Senator Adeola Yayi, whom she said has been supporting the family with medical bills.
“I will really like to appreciate Senator Yayi, he’s been the one helping us foot our bills,” she said.
Taiwo clarified that the family’s immediate concern was finding someone capable of treating her father.
Ogogo has spoken about a previous health battle
The latest disclosure comes after Ogogo previously opened up about a prolonged period of ill health.
In a 2025 interview with Oyinmomo TV, the actor recounted a seven-year health battle that began after he experienced severe pain while travelling to a film location. He said he was eventually diagnosed with chronic ulcers and suffered significant complications, including vomiting blood and difficulty eating.
The actor has also spoken in the past about how his illness affected his family and career. His daughter previously described that period as an extremely difficult time for the family, saying he survived after treatment for an ulcer and intestinal complications.
The health battle now disclosed by his daughter appears to be a separate and more recent development. The family’s current claims about his cancer diagnosis and treatment options have not been independently verified in public medical records.

Taiwo Hassan has spent decades in the Nigerian film industry and is particularly recognised for his contribution to Yoruba-language cinema.
Born in Ilaro, Ogun State, the actor began his acting career in the early 1980s after working with the Lagos State Water Corporation. He eventually left civil service to pursue acting full-time and became one of the recognisable figures in the Yoruba film industry.
Known widely as Ogogo, Hassan has worked as an actor, producer and filmmaker across a career spanning several decades.
For now, his daughter’s appeal is focused on one thing: finding a treatment option for her father.
“We are not here to ask for money,” she said. “All we need is someone that can treat him.”
