Plans to replace the San Siro stadium have circulated for years, but political gridlock and bureaucratic inertia have hindered the process. The current stadium offers minimal amenities, restricting the revenue streams available to the clubs. Recently, the US-based investment group Redbird Capital acquired AC Milan for a record-breaking €1.2 billion, and a new stadium holds substantial value for the project. Redbird Capital intends to generate revenue from sellable naming rights, concessions, hospitality lounges, offices, concerts, and even NFL games.
The lease deal between the city and the two clubs expires in 2030, presenting numerous possible outcomes for this situation, some of which are plausible and others that could lead to a bleak end for San Siro.
