Actor, Suleiman Ibrahim has asked a very interesting question on his page. In a video he shared, Suleiman asked if it is rude for one to tell an older person that they are proud of them.
He asked the question after a recent encounter he had. According to him, he was somewhere when a young boy he knew many years ago approached him and said ‘’Uncle I am proud of you.”
Ibrahim stated that he was basking in the comment when an older woman who was present interjected and said the young man should never tell an older person that he is proud of them as it is ‘’rude.” He said the older woman what is appropriate to tell an older person is ‘’I am inspired by you”. Ibrahim said he has pondered on the incident and wonders if indeed it is a rude act for a younger person to tell an older person that they are proud of them.
