Howard University Revokes Diddy’s Honorary Degree and Refunds $1 Million Scholarship Donation

Howard University has announced the revocation of Diddy’s honorary degree and the refund of a $1 million USD scholarship donation following recent allegations against the artist.

Diddy, who returned to Howard University last fall to donate $1 million USD as part of his commitment to supporting HBCUs, is now facing backlash due to actions that have come to light. The university has revoked the honorary degree awarded to him in 2014 and has discontinued the scholarship program named in his honor. This decision follows the emergence of video evidence showing him violently attacking his former partner, singer Cassie.

In a statement, Howard University said, “Mr. Combs’ behavior is so fundamentally incompatible with Howard University’s core values and beliefs that he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the institution’s highest honor. The university is unwavering in its opposition to all acts of interpersonal violence.”

Diddy attended Howard for two years before dropping out in 1990 and later returned as a commencement speaker. However, his recent actions have led to significant consequences. Earlier this year, federal authorities raided his properties in Los Angeles and Miami as part of a sex-trafficking investigation. While Diddy has denied these allegations, several brands have begun to sever ties with him, including the media company Revolt, in which he sold a majority stake.

The full extent of the impact on Diddy’s reputation remains to be seen as these events continue to unfold.
