Salah’s goal in Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Everton was voted the best goal from last season.

Salah competition for the awards were Cristiano Ronald and Gareth Bale. The Egyptian clinching the award came as a surprise to many, considering he had strong competitors on that category.

Gareth Bale’s acrobatic overhead kick that gave Real Madrid the lead in last season’s Champions League final, was highly expected by many to be picked for the award.

In total, there were 10 goals nominated for the award, but Salah’s strike in the Merseyside derby was announced as the winner at a ceremony in London on Monday evening.

Champions League final, Saturday 26 May
Winner of Bayern/Real Madrid v Liverpool/Roma

So, Liverpool face Roma in the last four. That’s probably the best draw they could have hoped for, really. “Could not have been better for LFC,” is the verdict from Dean Kinsella, via email. They will play the first leg at Anfield before a date in Rome, at the mammoth Stadio Olimpico. A Roma reunion for Mo Salah, too.
