TVC E, POLITICS – The Former student Union Activist and All progressive congress’ candidate in the just concluded rerun election in Benue South senatorial district claims that the exercise was massively rigged.

Daniel Onjeh who spoke to newsmen after announcement of the result, says he will be heading to court to seek redress and to prove that David Mark of the PDP didn’t win the election.

He claims that the election was again rigged massively under the directives of Mark just as it was done in March 28th.

Onjeh in an exclusive interview with TVC News, calls on his supporters to remain calm as he is confident he will get back his stolen mandate from Mark and the PDP.

Onjeh wonders why after 16 years of under representing his people, Mark is still insisting on returning to the Senate by all means, and accuses him of diverting funds meant for developmental projects in the state and zone.

Onjeh contested in the March 28th elections against Mark . He challenged the outcome of those polls in court leading to a rerun election on February 20th 2016.

TVC E, POLITICS – The Senatorial rerun election between the former Senate President David Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Daniel Onjeh of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is underway amid tight security, our Correspondent reports.

Correspondent Sophia Ogezi reports that accreditation and voting are ongoing simultaneously in all polling units across the nine local governments of Benue South senatorial district.

Reports say there was a massive turn out of voters in Otukpo Local Government, the political base of Sen. David Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party and Daniel Onjeh of the All Progressives Congress respectively.

Although there was report of minor skirmishes in Edabi over the location of a polling unit that were promptly resolved, the exercise was peaceful.

Both accreditation and voting started between 9am and 9:30am across the district.

The Electoral Officer in charge of Otukpo, James Echaba, said the exercise would hold in all designated polling units, observing that it would also be concluded within the specified time.

Speaking to reporters in Otukpo, the Deputy Governor of Benue, Benson Abounu, claimed that some skirmishes arose from alleged attempts by thugs to snatch ballot papers.

He, however, assured the public that security officials were determined to ensure the success of the polls.
