2pac is a well-known Hip-hop legend, respected and admired by almost everyone who knows his music.

During the ‘90s, he served as a pillar in rap because of his talented music abilities, whether he was trying to be a party starter, trounce his enemies, or provide meaningful messages of empowerment, his works resonated deeply with listeners.

A lot of rappers and singers in the Hip-Hop sphere till date look up to him.

Here are 2Pac Songs That Were Sampled From Other Artiste

1. 2PAC: CALIFORNIA LOVE

Everyone knows the late rapper’s West Coast anthem ‘California Love’ which was released in 1995.

The track expresses the more mainstream side of 2pac, with its sing-along chorus that glide over the piano-driven instrumental.

California Love’s structure owes a lot to ‘Woman To Woman’ by Joe Cocker, which was released in 1972.

However, there’s no denying that ‘California Love’ is one of the late rapper’s signature track.

2. 2PAC: CHANGES

This track was first released as a single from Shakur’s greatest hits compilation in 1998.

The song makes references to the war on drugs, the treatment of black people by the police, racism, the reconciliation between the black and white people in America, the perpetuation of poverty and the difficulties of life in the ghetto.

However, the piano and chorus are sampled from ‘The Way It Is’ by Bruce Hornsby and The Range, according to Bruce he became a fan of 2pac after he heard changes and he totally loved it.

MUST WATCH: 2Pac Songs That Were Sampled From Other Artiste

3. 2PAC: DO FOR LOVE

This was the second posthumously released single by 2pac from ‘R U Still Down? (Remember Me),’ which was his second posthumous album.

The vocal sample comes from blue-eyed soul legend Bobby Caldwell’s 1978 hit single ‘What You Won’t Do for Love,’ and it attained a good deal of popularity.

The song was certified Gold by RIAA and charted at number twenty-one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, and number twelve in the UK.

MUST WATCH: 2Pac Songs That Were Sampled From Other Artiste

4. 2PAC: HOW DO YOU WANT IT

This is one of 2pac’s most known songs, which was released as the third single from ‘All Eyez On Me.’

‘How Do U Want’ samples Quincy Jones 1974 song ‘Body Heat,’ and it includes a diss towards civil rights activist and fierce rap critic C. Delores Tucker.

Although Shakur originally performed the chorus in a low-baritone voice, he wasn’t pleased with his vocals, so he asked if Dalvin of Jodeci could hop on the record.

Dalvin called up K.C. & JoJo and the rest is history. The hit single charted at number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 and it became a club favourite.

MUST WATCH: 2Pac Songs That Were Sampled From Other Artiste

5. 2PAC: DEAR MAMA

Perhaps, no song in 2Pac’s catalog is celebrated more than ‘Dear Mama’ and it is for a good reason. The emotion in this song is overpowering as 2Pac pens down a love letter to his mother.

For a rapper who could evoke a variety of emotions to his listeners, 2pac never put you in your feelings more than on ‘Dear Mama’.

‘Dear Mama’ samples two songs ‘In All My Wildest Dreams’ by Joe Sample and ‘Sadie’ by the R&B group The Spinners.

As of March 2021, the song was certified three times Platinum by the RIAA. This song remains a classic and one of mother’s day song every year.

Legendary rapper Nas has made his way to the Forbes list of World highest paid rappers in 2018 and here’s why!

Nas has earned his spot on the list for the first time after releasing his debut album, according to Forbes. His friendship with venture capitalist Ben Horowitz and investments in companies like Lyft, Genius, and Mass Appeal have helped Nas to secure a career-best, $35 million. This new information has shot the artist up to the No. 6 spot.

Now Nas isn’t the only newcomer who made this Forbes list, Meek Mill also made the list!

This year, JAY-Z sits in the No. 1 spot with a whopping $76.5 million, soaring past last year’s No. 1, Sean “Diddy” Combs, who lands at No. 2 with $64 million.

But it’s Kendrick Lamar who has accomplished a career-best with an impressive $58 million. From his endorsement deals with Nike and American Express to sold-out dates on the TDE: Championship Tour, K. Dot’s epic year has paid off.

Drake slides in at No. 4 with $47 million and J. Cole rounds out the Top 5 with $35.5 million.

Dr. Dre and Nas are tied for No. 6 with $35 million. It marks the first time Nas has made the list since emerging with Illmatic in 1994.

Elsewhere on the list, DJ Khaled lands at No. 11 with $27 million, Travis Scott at No. 15 with $21 million, Lil Uzi Vert at No. 17 with $19.5 million and Logic at No. 19 with $17 million.

Russ, Swizz Beatz and Meek Mill are tied at No. 20 with $15 million.

Weezy posted early Saturday morning on Twitter, saying, “I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun.” It’s unclear what led to Wayne’s message … but he appeared to have a change of heart just hours after the post.

Wanye later said, “ain’t lookin for sympathy, just serenity” and then assured his fans everything was fine by posting, “I’m good y’all don’t trip.”

Wayne’s had some serious issues with his record label boss Birdman and Young Money, so it’s likely he contemplated retiring to void his deal.

Veteran US hip-hop producer, DJ Khaled, has hit number one for the first time with a star-studded album.

DJ Khaled “Major Key,” the DJ’s ninth studio album, debuted at number one on the US Billboard album chart for the week through Thursday with sales of 95,000 copies or the equivalent in downloads and streaming, tracking service Nielsen Music said.

The album features appearances from some of the top names in hip-hop including Jay Z, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj and J. Cole.

DJ Khaled, 40, has long worked with all-star rappers but his own brand quickly grew last year as he put out humorous videos on Snapchat, the social media platform known for temporary postings.

His Snapchat musings, which became the loose theme to his album, revolved around his “keys to success” in life, with his nuggets of wisdom ranging from eating breakfast to lathering his body with cocoa butter.

DJ Khaled appropriately celebrated his number-one album with a slew of social media postings late Sunday and Monday.

In one video on Instagram, the portly DJ is seen walking topless around a luxurious home, declaring, “They tried to count me out. Now we count our blessings up.”

Reuniting after a seven-year break, Cuban emigre hip hop group Orishas are also returning to their roots with a new single celebrating their “Cuba Isla Bella” and say they hope to launch their fourth studio album within a year.

The Orishas, named after the gods of the Afro-Cuban religion Santeria, originally won global acclaim for pioneering a unique Cuban brand of hip hop melding traditional beats and melodies like musical style “son” with gritty urban rap.

Band members, known as Yotuel, Ruzzo and Roldan, had parted ways on good terms in 2009 after selling more than a million studio recordings.

Yotuel said the angle of their new album is still a mystery to the group, but said it will include their hit song “Cuba Isla Bella”.

Roldan, the Cuban singer responsible for the band’s smooth melodies explained the separation was necessary because the group was “creatively worn out.” But he added that the time apart changed something.

Hip hop, which emerged in the 1990s in Cuba, was long viewed with suspicion due to its origins in the United States and the fear it could foment unrest as a channel for social critique.

TVC E – Iconic rap artiste, Sasha, has called for a healthier relationship among female artistes in Nigeria.

In a chat with journalists on Saturday, Sasha said, “We really need to retire this question about whether I am threatened by other female artistes. I believe the media needs to encourage and foster healthy relationships specifically amongst women in the industry. Our individual talents are unique to us all and after 15 years in the Nigerian entertainment industry, every female artist’s success is my own too. We have come so far and I’m proud of all of us.”

Although Sasha P, as she is fondly referred to by fans, dissuaded claims that there are a handful of female rap artistes in the industry, she believed that hip-hop is at the back burner presently because pop music is more commercially viable.

“I do not agree that there are still very few, I personally know of at least ten female artistes in the industry right now. I also do not agree that the industry is harsh for women in hip hop in particular. Hip hop in Nigeria has not been as mainstream as we are used to, pop music will always be more commercially viable and this might be responsible for the lapse. The entertainment industry is tough and not gender specific, the stakes are higher now and probably more expensive than when I started out but I believe that every challenge is a beautiful opportunity to shine. Personally, I have enjoyed a very rewarding career the Grace of God and believe that the possibilities are endless still,” she said.

TVCE (MUSIC) – Popular Hip hop singer, Olamide is featuring in a new song, Oya Dab, by DJ Enimoney which dropped last week.

As part of the promo for the song, Olamide has however gone on social media to give the new video, which comes with a new dance move some hype.

Olamide, on his Instagram page, posted different pictures of fans striking the ‘Dab’ dance pose.

The pose which sees people bend down and throw one hand sideways to the sky while the palm on the other hand closes the eyes has been going viral. The song is produced by B Banks.

It will be recalled that Olamide started 2016 on a controversial note when on New Year Day, he made snide remarks concerning the Headies’ decision to award Reekado Banks of Supreme Mavins Dynasty the award of ‘Next Rated Artist’ instead of Lil Kesh who is signed on to his YBNL label. A response by Don Jazzy was followed by a flurry of inflamed tweets by Olamide aimed at the SMD boss.

But with the rift settled by the next day, Olamide was, few days after, host of SMD as he featured on Tiwa Savage’s new video, Standing Ovation, off Tiwa’s latest album, R.E.D.
