Earlier this week, media expert to ex- President Johnathan, Reno Omokri said; ‘A non- virgin bride shouldn’t wear a white dress on her wedding, rather she should wear a red dress. Stating that wedding night should be the first time a woman sees her husband’s room.’

Jumoke Alawode expressed her mind on the ‘HOT’ topic discussion with the ladies of #YourViewTVC.

She initially emphasized that Neo-colonialism brought such traditions which has sidelined our culture and traditions as Nigerians.

“Neo-colonialism brought all this when we were colonized. We have in the bit to copy, forgotten our culture. We have a custom and tradition of wearing white for weddings because of the colonial master.

I used to hear as I grew up that when someone wears any other colour outside white, then the person is no longer a virgin. But these days, to see a virgin, it’s one in a million. People now even help themselves with other ways to have sex and remain virgins.

Everyone, virgin or not now wear white so there is no difference. What eventually tells is the white apparel of blood that is shown to the family after the wedding.”

She went further to talk about the issue of premarital sex and morals. She said,

“People should learn to hold them selves because premarital sex comes with a lot issues like lack of trust in marriage and so on.

 

Those who speak against it try to preach fear and mention STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections) and STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases), but fear no longer works, morals does.

 

I had been introduced to morals as a child from church, our morals are from our religious backgrounds. I believe that women are the cause of infidelity and high rate of sex. This is because, if all the girls decide to help the universe and close their legs to keep their chastity cloth, then the men would have no choice too.”

Finally she agreed that both old and young especially are sexually active and the media plays a major role.

“Everyone especially the children are sexually active. The media plays more role in this because it is open to a lot of people both young and old.

Analysing the hot topic, ‘Ladies abroad are proud , arrogant and too exposed-Nigerian men’, Jumoke began by sheding light on what led to the hot top discussion, stressing that the woman from the village will end up knowing her rights and treat the man badly.

She added that although some ladies’ definition of happiness is having a man to take care of them and give birth, the man is doing himself a disservice for leaving an educated woman for a naive one.

“These men are doing themselves a disservice because these ladies have potentials. How can he throw away all the potentials God put in a woman because he doesn’t want her to argue with him. She is educated, she has some knowledge and wisdom which is why she questions you but an uneducated woman does not know the difference.”

She advised that men should consider what’s important to him before his decision to pick a wife.

“What are your goals and who will help you achieve them? Are we helping each-other? A woman is an help mate, does she support, multitask, and tries in doing as much as she can? You can hire someone for house keeping while you guys enjoy yourselves in the other room. She might be busy but she tries to do what she can.”

She started by speaking about how people think married men/women can take better care of them than an hustling guy.

“I know a man who puts on a ring to toast ladies because people believe that when you are married, you are responsible. Married women show green light because they believe that a married man is responsible. The men who toast married women know that you will keep it a secret. You will not be calling him day and night like a single girl would. Whatever happens is hidden because you don’t want to make your husband suspect.”

Jumoke did not leave out expressing her detest for this act and believes that marriage vows should be kept.

“What was your vows when you got married? If you talked to him and he didn’t listen, talked to his mother to speak with him and he did not listen, why not find other solutions instead of showing green light.”

She finally advised that women should rather ‘slay’ for their husbands and not slay outside.

Her final words were;

” If no woman opens her legs, there will be no infidelity in the world.”

Speaking on the validity of a woman proposing to a man, there was an heated argument as some believe that there’s nothing wrong with it and others think it’s unacceptable.

Jumoke made some salient points, pointing out that it is not good enough for a lady to propose to a man. Some of her points were;

“Culture is a tradition of people that is widely accepted.Culture evolves but the best way is that you as a lady can softly have that conversation on what you guys are doing without proposing.”

 

“You’re a woman, make use of your power. In toasting, a woman can give the man green light through body gesture but for marriage, I can’t propose to a man o….”

She also affirmed to Mark Atabor’s statement when he said;

“The rules have’nt changed and cannot change till the end of time”.

While Morayo and others partly agreed with her, they stilll think that there is nothing wrong with a woman proposing.

Nyma also added that;

“A woman will not find it easy for fear of being disrespected bit I see nothing wrong with a woman proposing.”

 

 

Jumoke wrapped up her points by advising ladies to better still give obvious signs to get him informed instead of proposing.

“Men are hunters, wait to be hunted. An African man will not find it funny. A lady can give the body language but not be the one to propose. Give him signs that nearly a blind man will see”.

The argument ended with everyone holding their views but seeing through their opposition’s view.

Analysing the President’s speech, The ladies of #YourViewTVC shared divergent views on what was expected from the president.

Tope Mark Odigie speaking on the president’s appearance said; “I think the president looks healthy but my concern is, can he take care of the crisis going on in Nigeria right now?”

In a different perspective, Uwa Saleh stated that she expected the president to address the health sector which has failed in Nigeria and how it can be improved on.

She said; “I was expecting that the president would address the health sector/situation in Nigeria and how we will improve it.”

Butressing Uwa’s point, Jumoke added “We own the president. I expected him to have told us his health condition and what was the issue. We are paying the bills so he should have come out to give in detail what was wrong and the status of his health.”

Speaking further Tope and Jumoke codemned the public holiday declared by the Kogi State governor.

“Kogi State governor declaring Monday public holiday is trying to pledge loyalty which is uncalled for.” Tope said

“Has governance now become a joke? Kogi State governor owes 15 months salary but takes the whole Monday for thanksgiving”. Jumoke added

Speaking on the show, Your View, the actor said, “filmmakers do not enjoy security while shooting videos in Nigeria.  He said actors and filmmakers are often harassed on set or location of a movie in Nigeria, thereby forcing them to shoot abroad where their security is guaranteed.”

He said: “To enable filmmakers shoot their videos in Nigeria, some kind of support should be given to them such as, adequate electricity supply, road construction, assured security and son on.”

“Lack of these infrastructural facilities will cause the sales and marketing of films and music videos to be low, because people will not be interested in a film or music videos with poor location and infrastructural facilities. It will even cause filmmakers to be lazy and discouraged in film and video production.

“The creativity of filmmakers should not be limited because it helps them interpret their script and follow their budget.”

The multi-talented actor however urged government to communicate with filmmakers, respect them and work hand-in-hand with them to ensure the success of their chosen career.
