The suspect identified as, Ibrahim Kasali, was arrested alongside 21 other suspects who are alleged to have been involved in stealing within the area.

The raid which took place between 4:30a.m. and 6:35 am on Friday August 26, 2016, had the operatives going through Mosafejo, Bolade, Oshodi Oke, and Oshodi Under Bridge, arresting the hoodlums awaiting unsuspecting passers-by and passengers.

Popularly known as Ibrahim Babangida of Oshodi, was reportedly arrested during the operation as he was being chased by passengers of a bus he had just raided.

Kasali is reportedly feared by his colleagues his ruthlessness, making a niche for himself. Other suspects arrested prior to this raid are said to have given him out as their leader, adding that he goes round collecting stolen items to sell, sharing the proceeds amongst them. During his confession, Kasali disclosed that he has been imprisoned four times.

Upon the completion of the preliminary screening carried out by the operatives, four of the 22 arrested suspects were released after providing satisfactory information on their identity.

Some of the suspects include Bello Fatai, Oladimeji Ajisafe, Hassan Adeyemi, Jubril Olamilekan and Babalola Ahmed. Others were Junior Vincent, Rilwan Oyinsola, Sadiq Taofeek, Kazeem Taiwo, Mutiu Rasheed, Ayodele Adeeko and Sola Omonije amongst others.

Confirming the accident, the actress said, “It’s true I was involved in an accident along Agege/Oshodi express road on Monday, May 9, 2016, and it’s an unforgettable experience.”

She added that :

“But I just have to give glory to God for keeping me alive. It’s even a miracle that I came out unhurt. I was coming from Computer Village, Ikeja, facing Oshodi. As I got to PWD bus stop, a naval officer was coming out of the Air Force Base in Ikeja, Lagos with a pilot in his front.”

“The way the pilot came out was wrong, the driver was on high speed. I believe a responsible driver or motorist should understand that the road is narrow and very busy.”

“So, he needed to have applied brake or drive slowly before coming out to the express road.”

“The man just pulled into the road, and coincidentally, two trucks carrying 40 feet containers were coming at my back.”

“So, I had to park because the pilot had come out already, and the lane was narrow. As I was parking, one of the trucks just hit my jeep from the back.”

“The thing became a kind of multiple accidents as two other vehicles were also affected, but it’s only my car that was badly damaged.”

“But the most important thing was that I was not injured. Although, I was a little unconscious, I later regained consciousness.”

The state government had earlier closed the market to curb security challenges within Oshodi metropolis. The demolition was directly supervised in the earlier hours of today by the Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.

Also on ground to supervise the demolition were the Commissioner for Environment, Dr Babatunde Adejare, officials of Kick Against Indiscipline (KIA), police and some other top government officials. A director in the Ministry of Environment, who is the head of the demolition task force, declined to comment when contacted by the NAN. NAN learned that the affected traders and shop owners had been relocated to the new Isopakodowo Market at Bolade Area of Oshodi.

The state government had said in a statement that it planned to transform the market into an ultra-modern bus terminus with new bus shelters befitting a structured park in a mega city. The demolition was completed at about 7:45 a.m.

He added that they have relocated affected traders and shop owners to the newly built Isopakodowo market stalls at Bolade area in Oshodi. The government has also started fencing-off of the set-back on Agege Motor Road that stretches from Ilupeju end of Oshodi all the way to the PWD/Ikeja GRA end of the area.

He said that the fencing-off of the long stretch of the set-back is being undertaken to assist the Federal Government and the Nigerian Railway Corporation in particular with a view to beautifying it and safeguard lives along the railway corridor by discouraging street trading and indiscriminate use of the space.

In the statement, Ayorinde added that the Owonifari loop will be transformed into an ultra modern bus terminus with new bus shelters that are befitting of a structured park in a mega city.

He stated further that Oshodi will be sane and safe and a place where both traders and commuters would be pleased to visit and trade.
