Israel Adesanya: From UFC Champion to Real Estate Mogul

Nigerian MMA star Israel Adesanya, the former UFC middleweight champion, recently announced plans to leave the promotion after five more years. His recent actions suggest he is serious about this plan.

Planning for Life After UFC

“The Last Stylebender” launched his own real estate company as an investment to secure his future after leaving the UFC. In a recent YouTube video, Adesanya credited his father, Oluwafemi Adesanya, for organizing and growing the entire company.

The career of a professional athlete is relatively short compared to other professions. While most professionals work until or past the age of sixty, most athletes find it difficult to continue in their career after their late forties.

At 34 years old, Adesanya and his family need a reliable source of income when he retires from the UFC, something his father fully understood. This was the main justification for making the real estate investment.

Family Involvement and Support

Oluwafemi Adesanya stated that he would handle the company’s operations, ensuring its proper care. “The Last Stylebender” thanked his father before revealing the company’s board, branded the “Adesanya Close.”

In a message accompanying the post, Adesanya wrote, “A good boy that he is…” , emphasizing the strong roots and delicious fruits of the Adesanya family tree.

Adesanya’s Perspective on Property Development

Adesanya added, “Israel needs something solid as an investment. So we decided to go for property development. With me as the father, there is no better person to look after him. A good boy that he is, he trusted me with my decisions. And here we are.”

He further expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported him through the ups and downs, smiles and frowns, acknowledging that a project like this is not easy. Adesanya stated, “One down, 50 more to go. Yeah. I just want to say thank you to my Dad. I fund this. He’s the guy who takes his time to actually be there and stay in touch with everyone involved in the project.”

As Alex “Poatan” Pereira is already scheduled to defend his championship at UFC 300 against Jamahal Hill, Adesanya is unlikely to transition to light heavyweight very soon. However, following his victory at UFC 297, Dricus Du Plessis, the current middleweight champion, wants a fight with Adesanya.

Governor Sanwo Olu Signs Bill Regulating Real Estate Transactions In Lagos State

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has signed three bills into law during the weekly State Executive Council meeting at Lagos House, Ikeja.

According to Governor, Sanwo-Olu the law to regulate the real estate transactions in Lagos State will help to protect the citizens; the unsuspecting Lagosians who fall prey to many real estate professionals, adding that the law will also help players in the real estate sector to know what is expected of them and for government to be able to track who is doing what in the sector.

He said, “It is really around ease of doing business and ensuring that we can continue to attract private sector investments into the real estate space. We believe this law will be the very first in the country that has taken a deep dive into what is happening in that space and it further strengthens our intervention in housing through the Ministry of Housing,”

Sanwo-Olu said the new bills would strengthen government and citizens’ engagement and relationships and it will help residents of the state to continue to live in an atmosphere where the rule of law is enshrined for people and to know what is expected of them.

He said the law to provide for the registration of cooperative societies in Lagos State would make it easy to regulate the operations of thousands of cooperative societies in the state for harmonious cooperation.

The governor also noted that the law regulating the ownership, licensing and sale of pets, prohibiting and restricting people from having in custody dangerous animals in public places, would further strengthen all the deliverables in the Ministry of Agriculture, especially issues that have to do with pets and animals.

Estate Surveyors advocate review of existing Scale of fees

Nigeria needs a vibrant building sector to grow the economy of the Country especially to tackle the current recession.

This was the submission of Estate Surveyors and Valuers at the induction of more than three hundred newly qualified members.

The members believe that one of the ways to standardize the practice of Estate Surveyors in the Country is to review existing scale of fees.

The professionals now propose a new practice manual known as the “Green Book” in order to restore sanity to the profession.

The President of the Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers said that that practice of valuation is dynamic and innovative, and that this new proposed manual would raise the bar for practitioners.

Ogun warns developers against unapproved plan

TVC E, BUSINESS: Ogun State government has warned property developers against unapproved building plan, saying erring developers will not only pay a fine, the building will also be demolished.

It advised property developers to obtain building permit before making any change in the use of land, building and structure or converting same from its approved usage.

The Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Bashorun Adetola Adeife, gave the warning after leading a team to seal some buildings in Ilaro and its environs in Ogun West Senatorial District.

He said the era of impunity was over as the government would not fold its arms and watch developers contravene the state’s Urban and Regional Planning law, adding that their actions could turn the environment into slums.

‘’I urge all developers to obtain their permit before embarking on any construction as this would enable the professionals in the Ministry to guide the developers to build in line with the Urban and Regional Planning law without altering the layouts and at the same time increase the government revenue,’’ Adeife said.
