Meek Mill’s Early Career
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Meek Mill started his musical journey as a battle rapper. He was a part of the short-lived rap group, The Bloodhoundz. In 2008, his talent caught the eye of Atlanta-based rapper T.I., who signed him to his first record deal. By February 2011, after leaving Grand Hustle Records, Meek Mill signed with Miami-based rapper Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group (MMG). Under MMG and Warner Bros. In October 2012, Meek Mill launched his own label imprint, Dream Chasers Records, named after his mixtape series.
