Many feared dead as shopping mall in Abeokuta collapses

Part of the ultra-modern shopping complex being built by the Ogun State government at the popular Itoku market in Abeokuta, the state capital has collapsed.

Unconfirmed reports have it that about ten people suspected to be workers in the building under construction are trapped in the rubbles.

Men and equipment of the Ogun State Fire Service have been mobilized to commence rescue operations while the State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun is on ground to coordinate the rescue effort.

According to our source, part of the building came down around 8:30AM on Friday morning

The cause of the incident is yet unknown.
