Edo Assembly okays access to bailout fund

Lawmakers in the Edo State House of Assembly have given the nod to Governor Adams Oshiomhole to access the sum of N366m bailout funds from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for payment of salary arrears of Egor local government workers.

Workers of Egor local government are being owed over 16 months’ salaries.

The lawmakers’ resolution was sequel to a request by Governor Oshiomhole  in a letter read during an emergency plenary on Monday.

In the latter, Governor Oshiomhole said the fund would be used to pay the salary arrears of Egor local government council workers.

Majority leader, Hon. Folly Ogedengbe, who moved the motion, said Egor local government was omitted in the list of the bailout fund earlier sent to the CBN.
