Ondo 2016: Group warns residents against violence

Ahead of the November the 26th governorship election in Ondo state, a non partisan group, Yoruba Peoples Congress has sensitised residents of Akure on the need to shun violence and thuggery before, during and after the poll.

Members of the group moved round major streets in Akure, sensitising market women, artisans and students on the need to ensure that peoples’ votes count during the election.

The group noted that it is ready to partner with relevant security agencies to ensure that the forthcoming governorship election is devoid of rigging.

The Ondo state coordinator of YPC, Ayeni Clement, said the group would ensure that the election is not financial induced to favour any political party.

He added that the group which has over two hundred thousand members in the eighteen local government councils in the state was established to preserve the rich culture of the Yoruba race.
