Amosun signs anti-land grabbing bill into law

Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun has signed the anti land grabbing bill into law.  With this new law, any land grabber arrested in the state  risks twenty five years in jail.

TVC News Ogun State Correspondent, Kazeem Olowe reports that for years in Ogun State, land grabbers have been hijacking land from the people, selling government land and terrorising innocent people by asking them to buy same land from different persons.

Realising the negative impact of this on the development of the state, the state house of assembly passed a bill meant to address the problem and presented it to the state governor for his assent.

Aside from land grabbing, the law also covers kidnapping and the governor has warned kidnappers to shun their evil acts or face the full wrath of the law.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun state Command in his reaction promised to enforce the law and asked land grabbers and kidnappers to relocate from the state or stop their unwholesome practices.

The commissioner added that the police have units that will carry out the task effectively.
