About 1,520 divorcees and widows on Sunday, benefitted from the mass wedding organised at the instance of Kano State government at the Kano Central Mosque and other major mosques across the 44 local government areas of the state.
In a grand ceremony at Coronation Hall, Kano Government House, Gov Abdullahi Umar Ganduje urged the beneficiaries to adhere strictly to the tenets of Islam in marriage, adding that his government will continue to ensure that couples imbibe the moral lessons in marriage which has to do with endurance, tolerance, love, patience and continuous faith in the Almighty God.
Gov Ganduje added that his administration decided to invest in the mass wedding in order to curb the rampant cases of divorce and other marital problems in the state.
In tandem with Governor Ganduje’s belief in transparency and accountability, government officials were dispatched to all the 44 council areas to monitor the event.
