Death toll in Sokoto meningitis rises to 21- Commissioner

The death toll as a result of the meningitis epidemic in Sokoto State has risen to 21.

The State Health Commissioner, Balarabe Kakale says the deaths were recorded in seven local government areas, and that more than one hundred and fifty medical personnel have been deployed.

The medics have been conducting house-to-house search, definition and management.

Kakale says they have already treated no fewer than 330 mixed cases of severe malaria and meningitis, across the seven top-hit local governments.
