AGF accuses National Assembly of frustrating Nigeria’s anti-corruption war

Image result for Malami and SenateNigeria’s Attorney General and Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami, says the fight against corruption can only be won if there is a synergy among all arms of government.

The Minister also chided the National Assembly for not passing two relevant amendment bills that will aid the administration’s efforts against graft.

National Assembly Correspondent, Joke Adisa reports that after several failed attempts, the Ad Hoc Committee investigating the $17bn crude oil funds, allegedly stolen between 2011 and 2014, has now kicked off.

Justice Minister and the Chief Operating Officer of the NNPC are leading other government officials to state their own side of the story.

Malami expressed support for the probe and disclosed that the government has taken pro active steps by dragging some of the suspects to court.

But he says the Buhari government isn’t getting the needed support from the other arms of government in it’s crusade against corruption.

Malami lashes at the National Assembly for not passing needed legislative interventions.

For more than three hours, the committee engaged the NNPC representative and wasn’t pleased with his responses which led to a heated argument.

The Nigerian Navy and the Department of Petroleum Resources also took their turns just as the committee says it will be meeting with other critical stakeholders.
